Your Advocate on the Board

Hi, I'm Natalie! As a mother and grandmother, I know that the children of Las Cruces deserve better opportunities to succeed. We're ranked 50th in the Nation for education. We must do better!

 

I own several businesses in Las Cruces and have been dismayed to see how Las Cruces' high school graduates are struggling to read, write, and do basic math. Our teachers are stretched too thin, trying to cover a myriad of subjects. Instead, I will bring the focus back to the basics of reading, writing, math, history, and science. We can renew our focus on educating our students in the core subjects while instilling in them a good work ethic. 

 

In the past, I operated several childcare centers in New Mexico and Arizona for children from newborn through 12 years old. Recognizing the value of early education, I purposely created an environment in which the children were given academic instruction as well as guidance in proper behavior and self-control. 

 

Now, in our public schools, teachers are restricted in their classroom management such that unruly kids are often disrupting everyone's education. I will empower teachers to bring back order to their classrooms and invigorate the focus on academics. In this way, we can help more children thrive and ensure they are better prepared to become successful adults. ​
